The Grande Prairie Chess Club has been in operation for more than 30 years.
The Grande Prairie Chess Club has a new president! Wade Caughlin (pictured to the left) has taken over as president of the club replacing Tim Pradzinski who will stay on as past president to help Wade in his new position. Please feel free to send Wade an email regarding any questions you might have. Wade has many years of chess playing experience and is a valued member of the community and I am sure that he will bring his enthusiasm and love of chess to the Grande Prairie Chess Club. The focus of our club will be to help each other get better at the Sport of Kings! and to have the occasional tournament. If you wish to play casual chess with other club members, bring your chess equipment and chess clock (if you have one) down to the Grande Prairie Regional College on Thursday nights starting at 6 PM to 10 PM. We will be meeting in room D308. We have joined forces with the GPRC Gaming Club and we feel this association will be great for both clubs and great for the community. There are players of all levels from beginner to expert so all are welcome. Please visit the Where We Play page on our website to see exactly where members meet for casual chess. Also, keep an eye on our Upcoming Tournaments page to see what tournaments are coming up. The games and results of the 2011 GP Chess Club Championship are now online. The 2012 Trumpeter Classic games will be online soon. There was a three way tie for 1st place with no way to break the tie. So, Tim Pradzinski, Wade Caughlin and David Miller will all have their names engraved on our annual plaque. David Miller had the chance to be our sole champion but was unable to beat Wade Caughlin in the final round. We are always looking for new members to join our club. Currently, we have members at all levels from beginner to expert. There is no charge to play casual chess at the Grande Prairie Regional College. Puzzle of the Day
