The 2009 October Open was held on October 17, 2009 at the Grande Prairie Chess Club. We had 4 players competing in the tournament. Wade Caughlin was once again the highest rated player in the tournament.
Close to the end of the 1st game, Rob Nisbet got called into work and we had to end the tournament prematurely. Both first round games ended in a draw. Dean Johnson accepted a draw offer from Tim Pradzinski even though I believe that he was in a won position. The results were as follows:
