The 2010 November Open was held on November 13, 2010 at the Grande Prairie Chess Club. We had 6 players competing in the tournament. David Miller showed his recent fine form by winning the tournament outright! Club Champion, Wade Caughlin, ought to be looking over his shoulder as David is prepared to challenge for his title this year.
Jim Roy (from Sexsmith) and Brian Redmond (from Grande Prairie) were once again in attendence. Road Warrior, Chris White, came in from LaCrete and proceeded to have an awesome tournament! This was a very strong tournament for the Grande Prairie Chess Club with an average rating of 1833! Newcomer Brian Redmond was in tough and had a great game against Jim Roy until he made a few tactical errors at the end of the game. Keep up the good work Brian.
Tim Pradzinski proceeded to lose 2 games by pressing too hard for wins. I am sure that a changing of the guard is in progress and Tim won't be the highest rated player in the club for much longer (giving him much motivation to play better!)
The results were as follows:
- David Miller (1864) - 2.5/3
- Jim Roy (1919) - 2/3
- Chris White (1752) - 2/3
- Wade Caughlin (1957) - 1.5/3
- Tim Pradzinski (1968) - 1/3
- Brian Redmond (1540) - 0/3
