The 2010 October Open was held on October 16, 2010 at the Grande Prairie Chess Club. We had 5 players competing in the tournament. Tim Pradzinski was the highest rated player in the tournament.
2 new members of the Grande Prairie Chess Club were in attendence. Jim Roy (from Sexsmith) and Brian Redmond (from Grande Prairie). This was Jim's first rated tournament since 2005 and it was Brian's first ever tournament. Brian played very well and should have won his game against Tim Pradzinski in Round 2. I think we will see great things from Brian in the coming year!
Tim drew his games against David Miller and Jim Roy and won his game against Brian Redmond but it was not good enough to claim a share of the prize money. Both Jim Roy and David Miller finished with 2.5 points and tied for first. The results were as follows:
