Official Crosstable of the

2011 Calgary Internet Match

The 2011 Grande Prairie Chess Club vs Calgary Chess Club Internet Match was held on April 16, 2011.  The GP Chess Club played their games at the Grande Prairie Public Library.  The library set aside a playing area for us with a sign letting people know that that area was reserved all day for us.  The match was going to be a 4 player match up with the Calgary Chess Club with the stipulation that they try to get players around our ratings.  Unfortunately, 1 of their players was unable to play and so one of our players, Wade Caughlin, agreed to sit out.

This was our first internet match and we hope to have many more in the future with all kinds of clubs around Canada.

Grande Prairie's board order was as follows:

  • Board 1 - David Miller - 1944
  • Board 2 - Jim Roy - 1879
  • Board 3 - Tim Pradzinski - 1960

Calgary's board order was as follows:

  • Board 1 - Tony Ficzere - 1849
  • Board 2 - Bill Bentley - 1835
  • Board 3 - Frank Kluytmans - 1753

The final result was Grande Prairie 5.5 - Calgary 0.5

The only downside to the event was that Calgary kept losing their internet connection.  Hopefully, they will get that fixed in the near future so that they have a more reliable connection. Other than that, we all really enjoyed playing at the library.  The noise level was good and the lighting was excellent.  Thank you Tony Ficzere for organizing everything in Calgary.
