If you are a current Canadian Chess Federation member, the Grande Prairie Chess Club is Free to join. If not, a small fee will be required to join the Alberta Chess Association. We are affiliated with the Alberta Chess Association and we support their membership efforts as they support us by supplying us with equipment and they generously cover the costs of our biggest tournament, The Trumpeter Classic!
Alberta Chess Association Associate Membership fees are as follows:
Note: If you are a member of the Canadian Chess Federation, you are already a member of the Alberta Chess Association and you are not required to purchase an Associate Membership.
Why do I need to purchase an ACA Associate Membership?
The answer is simple. The Alberta Chess Association is required by the Alberta Government and also some of their major sponsors to show that they are supporting chess in Alberta. The only way to do this is to sell memberships to those individuals who they are supporting (either directly or indirectly). That's you!
What are the tangible benefits of my ACA Associate Membership?
When you purchase an ACA Associate Membership from the Grande Prairie Chess Club, you are entitled to receive a hard copy of the ACA newsletter, the Alberta Chess Report, which comes out 6 times per year. Your copy will be sent to Wade Caughlin and he will notify you by email when they are ready for pickup. They will most likely be distributed at our tournaments or on casual chess nights at the Grande Prairie Public Library. You will also receive the satisfaction in knowing that your membership helps support chess throughout Alberta.
